Whelping/Socializing:

Whelping at Aldebaran Labradors occurs in our home.  I usually take 1 week off of work to tend to the pups and assure they all have a good start on life.  Dewclaws are no longer removed because of health problems associated with the joint after removal.  From Day 4-16 we expose the pups to the "Super Puppy" program as described on the Diary of a Litter page.  This program jump starts the neurological responses in the pups, benefits the immune system, and helps the dogs better deal with stress when they are older.  We also microchip all our pups as a way to permanently identify our line.  It is the owners responsibility to pay for the submission of the paperwork to the Pet Recovery Program.  We socialize the pups with dogs, cats, children, the elderly, as well as the vacuum, various types of music, frozen quail, ducks, pheasant, chucker, and grouse.  At 6 weeks the pups will be evaluated by a certified canine Ophthalmologist to check the health of the eyes.  The pups are wormed throughout the time we have them and are inoculated before they are adopted.  A wellness check by our Veterinarian is also included.

Adoption:

1)  Prospective buyers must fill out  a questionnaire and return it to us prior to being chosen as an adoptive family.  We often have a waiting list for our pups so if you are interested, please contact us to receive a questionnaire.

2)  Our pups are a sold for $1,800.  We provide a $250 bonus to our clients who put an AKC title on one of our dogs!  You can do it!

3)  All of our puppies are sold on a limited registration.

4)  Our goal is to find life long homes for our pups.  To do this we need to place the right  pup in the right home.  We use your responses on our puppy placement questionnaire to determine what type of dog you want.  It is VERY important you be specific when you describe what traits you would like your dog to have, as well as what activities you will be doing with your dog.  We temperament test the pups so we know what the strengths are of each dog and couple that with the clients wish list to determine the best match.  Being around the pups daily we know what each pup has to offer and which one is best for You!  We will select the puppy for you!  We aim to please our puppies and our clients!

5)  It is REQUIRED by Aldebaran Labs that a fully fenced yard or kennel run be in place at the time of adoption.  Aldebaran Labs also highly recommends the use of a crate in the home as well as in a vehicle.

6)  The dog will be fully registered prior to sale.  Each of our puppies will contain our registerred kennel name, ALDEBARAN, as the prefix to the name.  After purchase you may contact AKC to transfer ownership and a name change may occur but the first 9 letters of the dogs registered name will be REQUIRED to be Aldebaran.

7)  Other fees incurred on the buyer are the recording of the microchip with the AKC recovery program ($20) and the cost of transferring the registration papers into your name with AKC (~ $30).  These fees will be paid directly to AKC by the buyer.

8) We do not ship our puppies.  If you would like to fly with your puppy we require that the puppy be flown in the cabin where it is under your direct supervision.  All costs associated with shipping a puppy will be paid by the buyer.

8)  Puppies sold by Aldebaran Labradors cannot be neutered/spayed prior to the age of 1 year.  It has been documented that early spay or neutering can change the angle of bone growth around the knee making it easier to end up with knee problems.

OUR PUPPIES ARE FULLY GUARANTEED!

We guarantee that your dog will be able to pass

OFA hip, elbow, and eye (CERF) clearances at the age of 2 years!

If the dog does not pass clearances it may be returned to us for a replacement puppy!

The replacement puppy will be of equal or greater value, and will be chosen by us for you within a 5 year window.

We are in this for the long run and will be here when you need us!

We will do all we can to make sure the puppy you receive is of the highest quality possible.  We do this by making sure our breeding stock is sound and have clearances as well as  DNA testing.  We socialize our puppies as listed above to make sure they are prepared for the future that awaits them.

If at any time you are not happy with your dog or can no longer care for the dog, the dog must be returned to us.  Upon delivery of your dog to us, the registration must be signed over.

Please feel free to compare our adoption requirements and guarantees with other breeders.

Happy puppy hunting!
